About Nigel King

I believe everyone, no matter your age, fitness level or injury, should have access to top level training. Along with my team we aim to provide that service locally to Glen Innes and online to the rest of Australia.

Professional background: My interest in weight training started in High School. I started in Tae Kwon Do when I was 17 years old. From there I have developed my martial arts and fitness knowledge over the last 20 years.  I have trained under Kyoshi Nick King since moving to Glen Innes in 2000 and won a National title in kumite before injury stopped my training. I have since restarted my training again with Nick. For a short period I worked in a gym in Glen Innes with Rach Kerr running classes. I also worked my way up the ranks in Woolworths to become a Manager. But my dream was to one day own and run a gym and provide a safe and supportive environment for all people to get fit in. With the help of my wife we planned Kings Gym for over 2 years before opening in Dec 2014. 


Qualifications: Cert 4 in Fitness, Les Mills Instructor, diploma in management.


What kind of Trainer I am: I am a supportive and understanding mentor with great knowledge on injuries and in shaping, strengthening and toning ones body. I keep things light and fun. 

Who's suited to my style: people looking to shape their body or build strength rather than lose weight. Being a lean person with a fast metabolism I have a personal understanding of how to get the best from your workout and deal with needing to gain muscle and strength, toning up and shredding down their body.

Personal exercise experiences: I have more so struggled with putting on weight and size and learning how to slow down when needed and focus my energy where it is needed. My martial arts background has given me insight into balancing the mind and body.

Wrap up: we have many wonderful trainers that know and have experience in losing weight. I understand the struggle but do not have personal experience. I do however have experience on the other side of the coin and can help people how are wanting to find shape or lose body fat % to shred or guys wanting to build up. This challenge isn't just for weight loss, it's a tool for anyone to reach any goal. Gain size, shape the body, shred down or just get stronger and fitter. I'm the trainer for those people.

Professional background: As an eager young woman I started my fitness journey and career working in and helping out at bootcamps and gyms. I then furthered the knowledge and experience I gained in exercising the human body in many representive sports I played for the region and for the state. Now with what I have learnt in the past I have continued to learn and better myself for the past 2 years here at Kings Gym and Fitness.

What kind of Trainer I am: I'm a very keen trainer that is always looking at the next step to get you to your goal. I can push you to where you might dislike me for a second but I promise you'll love me after! I love to make fitness fun for everyone and don't mind having a laugh with my clients.

Who's suited to my style: If you're looking to lose weight, tone up and work on your fitness but need that little push, I am the trainer for you!

Personal exercise experiences: Dancing and playing representative sport's all my life kept me very fit while I was younger but it wasn't until I finished high school that my fitness and my weight took a hit. Over the past years my weight has been very unstable, constantly rising and falling. Now I have successfully lost 10kgs and maintained my weight over a period of time and I feel I have the knowledge and experience to help like minded people to do the same and change their lifestyle for the better.

Wrap up: With my past experiences and understanding of the human body, weightloss and maintenance, I feel I can help anyone reach their specific goal.
I aim to help anyone and everyone and also have some have fun along the way, because lifes too short to not have a laugh and smile.
As the youngest member of staff at Kings Gym and FItness I believe I bring a fresh new look at fitness and exercising making sure to maximise your results!

Relevant Qualifications:

My Background: I first started my PT journey 14 years ago, working at a local gym in Glen Innes. There i was a main instructor and personal trainer.
Nigel and I worked together then and now we are back as trainers on the same team again.
When the gym closed and i moved on and got married and had children, like alot of women, i gained quite a substantial amount of weight. Approx 18 months ago i decided to take charge of my body and my life and put all my knowledge into action on myself. Over that time i have reduced my over all body weight by over 40kg, I'm not quite finished but i know the way.


What do i have to offer a client?: With years of being in and around the industry, trying my hand at many differnet exercise types and programs. I can guide a client in the right direction to get you started on your weight loss or muscle gain journey.

What kind of Trainer I am: I am a motivator. I am the trainer that will be touching base with you at least twice a day. I will keep you accountable, push you and give you the hard answers you won't always want to hear when you need them.
I will be a little in your face, very kind and goal driven.
I will help you get around those pesky events and weak moments when you feel hopeless and down. I will be your conscience for food and exercise. This style won't suit everyone but i can promise, if you stick with me, Results.

Who is suited to my style?: People who need to drop a significant amount of weight and struggle with the knowledge and dedication to do it on their own. People with an unhealthy relationship with food, but are serious about breaking the cycle. People who need/want a constant in their journey to be their for them every step of the way. On the other side, people with a good general fitness who want to take it to the next level. I can help take you there!

Personal Exercise: My background in fitness started as a ballerina all through my childhood and into my young adult life. When i left that i started to gain alot of interest in cardio and weights which led me into the fitness industry.
My current fitness program is:
5-6 sessions of intense cardio p.w.
3 weight sessions p.w. 
A fair bit of walking/running.
3 stretch and refresh sessions p.w. (Body Balance/ Yoga)
1 dedicated rest day p.w.

About me: I have danced all my life but it wasn't until I had my first abdominal surgery in 2011 that I realised how important core strength is in everything you do. The key to my recovery was discovering Pilates - a full body workout that is low impact but centred around strengthening your core, toning muscles and lengthening your body. I was hooked!
I then went on to have two c-sections (2012 and 2015) and Pilates was once again a major part of my recovery and rehabilitation. It has been through those experiences of trying to get back to my original fitness level each time that has allowed me to understand the highs and lows of recovering from injury/surgery accompanied with trying to lose those extra kilos from pregnancy.
Being a mother of 2 young girls it is so important for me to lead by example and show them what being happy, fit and healthy is. So that is what I want out of this challenge, to find happiness through meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals, to improve my fitness levels (especially cardio) and to focus on eating properly rather than just grabbing a quick snack or eating my kids leftovers!

What kind of Trainer I am: As a trainer I will be there to encourage, motivate, keep on track and listen. I genuinely care for all my clients well being and will take the time to make sure you are getting the most out of your program, working towards your goals and also thinking about life after the program. I understand life can be overwhelming and busy and I will work with you to find the balance you need to fit work, family, down time AND exercise/healthy eating into your week.

Who might chose me? Someone who is recovering from injury and needs a mentor that can relate
A parent who is struggling to find "me time" or lose the last few kilos since having a baby
